This week saw a much depleted team take on a Sandhurst side who had already taken 3 points off us on a very bad day earlier in the season.
Game started evenly with both sides looking to gain a foothold early on, Sandhurst having the first clear cut chance of the game, a long thrown in from the right hand side found its way to their striker on the edge of the six yard box who released a quick shot which saw Brady diving down to his right to palm it to safety.
This provided the much need kick Forest needed, some direct play saw Dan Pawson released down the right who drove into the box and knocked a low cross which was met by Davey Blackmore who fired over.
The breakthrough came 5 minutes before half time, a soft penalty being awarded to Sandhurst following a coming together between Jack Kelley and their striker. A hard low penalty which Brady got a good hand to but the power proving to much.
A big half time team talk and Forest started the second half with intensity which paid off as 2 minutes in some great work between Ben Lawrence and Blackmore found Forest in behind and Blackmore made no mistake slotting it round the goalkeeper.
Forest kept on pushing, but nearly found themselves a goal down after a lack of concentration saw a loss of possession and the Sandhurst striker running one on one with Brady, who rushed out sprawling at the striker to deflect the shot wide.
Shortly after this the game started to open up abit with both sides trying to find the edge, it was Sandhurst who nearly found the net once again after a failed clearance attempted put the visiting side one on one again, Brady coming up strong again rushing out to block the shot and cover the follow up effort.
This sparked Forest back into life once again, a long clearance over the top found Blackmore in a race with the keeper to meet the ball, Blackmores persistence paid off as the keepers clearance was blocked and Blackmore chased the ball down and slotted into an empty net with 10 minutes to go.
Forest tightened up in the last few minutes, making it difficult for Sandhurst to play other than long balls into the box. Forest saw the game out and pulled off an impressive win.
This is what the managers had to say...
"Today was a massive win for us, given the team we had available. We showed great character after going 1-0 down to come back and turn it around. Yes we rode our luck a little but 5/6 weeks ago that wouldn't of happened. Everyone played their part today and players being played out of position for the good of the team, a few shout outs, Stefan was superb once again, Davey run himself into the ground, strong performances from Phil Gale and Gavin Weston considering the game time they have had in recent weeks. All round it was a good day"
