Bracknell Town Walking Football

Team info

Team information

Walking football is a relatively new concept. It is still the small sided outdoor football game we know, but played at a slower pace making it more accessible to those individuals who may not have played for years or have an injury/are recovering from an injury or have less mobility than in their younger years. It provides an opportunity for those with a desire to be active again to participate in a sport they love, the comradeship, socialising and to be part of a group with like minded people. Rules include three touch, minimal to no contact, below head height and with no heading.

Our club, Bracknell Town Walking Football Club, was formed in September 2014, is affiliated to the B&B FA and has over 100 members.

We play every Wednesday morning at Bracknell Leisure Centre, Bagshot Road, RG12 9SE on the 3G pitch, meeting up at the pitches on the far side of the car park at 10.15hrs and starting at 10.30hrs. After warming up, we split into a number of teams of about 6-a-side each so that we can hold three sessions of matches lasting 15 minutes each. This includes a slower paced game “SPG” for those who are less mobile or are new to the game. The pitches are booked for 90 minutes, although some people tend to leave after playing 3 games/the first hour. We also play on Mondays at the same time as the Wednesdays above and every Thursday evening between 19.00hrs and 20.00hrs. The Monday mornings and Thursday evenings have fewer attendees and therefore no SPG.

The minimum age limit is 50 for men and 40 for Women, and new members are made most welcome. For those who like to do more we also run two sides in each of the Surrey FA and Thames Valley Walking Football Leagues, as well as playing in numerous Tournaments (both domestic and international) , Festivals and Friendlies throughout the year. There is a thriving social side with the Breakfast club , post session tea and coffee in the Leisure Centre café, concert evenings, dinners, games evenings, etc.
