What a proud morning

Sunday morning, bright sunshine, a busy Chingford rugby club, 3 coaches and 16 excited/nervous Braintree Under 7s. Our first match!

Both Braintree and Chingford split their players into 2 teams and we played on pitches next to each other. The sides of each pitch were lined with parents, grandparents and siblings of our under 7s to cheer them on and support the club.

David was refereeing the Tigers and Tony H refereeing the Pumas with Tony K hopping between the 2 pitches. The time had finally come and with the blow of each whistle our Cats were away.

The boys and Olivia knew exactly what they were doing and what the aim of the game was. The passing was spot on, tags were being snatched and tries were being had.

Joseph was on fire getting tag after tag. Harry W made friends with the try line. Jack was a forced to be reckoned with. Tom McK was someone to be watched. George Martindale made it look easy. Olivia was not at all fazed by being amoungst the opposing boys and reeped girl power. Thomas showed us the talent of the next Wadforth within the club. Max knew exactly what he was aiming for and wasn't afraid to go and get it.

George Morris, Harry C, Harry H, Harry J, Leland, Luca, Lucas and Pip were on top form and showed us all exactly what they are made of.

The Cats played 5 games in total winning all 5. The Tigers won 7-1, 14-1 and 10-2. The Pumas won 15-11 and 16-5.

At the end of the matches when we all chatted and talked about the children, the same comments kept coming up time and again. How well they all did and knew what was what, there was not one player that didn't put 100% in and try their best, how well they played together and how proud we all were of them.

What an amazing start to our first season of friendly competition. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Chingford was a great club to visit and play against and we look forward to more and more. Hopefully the sun will keep shining and I'm sure the team will continue to do well and go from strength to strength.
