A chilly start with frost on the ground, we had two teams of 6 available to play with no subs, it was important that the boys were warmed up, so after some jogging and sprints and some good passing drills they were ready to play.
We knew that it was going to be a hard morning as Hadleigh are a good team and after coming away with a win at our last meeting on their home ground in November we new that they would be after a win on ours.
Both teams started well in the first half with some good defensive tagging and attacking work the boys were holding their own and tries were being made which put the teams up by 1or 2 tries.
In the second half the boys tried to keep the pressure on but Hadleigh had woken up with a new will to win and they counter attacked and they scored, Braintree were unlucky as they were really going for the tags but they just slipped from their grasp letting Hadleigh through to score.
Braintree attacked and scored again but later lost out on two tries as the boys slipped in the mud and let the ball go only inches from the try line and then only for Hadleigh to pick it up and run and score.
In all both the Braintree teams played really well in both the games they played, it was good to see that the passing sessions that we have been practicing at training was working as there were some good offloads carried out today.
Our boys played well and can hold there heads up heigh but Hadleigh were the better team on the day.
