Braintee Amber 6 vs. Woodford 9

This was a close fought match with Woodford running out winners by 9 points to 6. Braintree's tries were scored by Freddie Prout and Michael Locke

Braintree Black 3 vs Westcliff 1st 9

Westcliff got off to a flying start with a try from the first play of the game. The rest of the first half was dominated by defences with flowing rugby conspicuous by its absence. Westcliff scored their second try early in the second half after turning over Braintree ball. Braintree pulled one back when Eliot Jones sprinted most of the length of the pitch after some solid Braintree defence soaked up the Westcliff pressure.

Braintee Amber 3 vs Westcliff 1st 9

The stronger of the two Westcliff sides continued their good form by beating Braintree Amber. The home side's try was scored by Freddie Prout, having been well set up by Callum Thompson.

Braintree Black 6 vs Woodford 18

Braintree had a good first half, trailing by just one try at the break with Ben Cakebread and Eliot Jones scoring for Braintree. Eliot's try came after a good run and pass by Tristain Smith. However, Woodford extended their lead in the second half without further scores from Braintree.

Braintree Black's best performance of the day saw them beat Westcliff's 2nd team. The first try came from Eliot Jones, who scored in the corner after Tristain Smith had taken advantage of confusion at a Westcliff scrum. Cameron Tanner scored the second bundling over the line after a penalty near the Westcliff line and Tristain Smith got the third.
A similar second half performance from Braintree resulted in four more tries, one scored by Jake Gleed and three more by Eliot Jones. The pick of them came after practically the whole team worked the ball across the pitch from a lineout for Eliot to finish with another blistering run.

This proved a stern test for both Braintree sides as they came up against two clubs with contrasting styles of play. Westcliff were very effective at retaining the ball when tackled and preventing their opponents from moving the ball wide. Woodford's defence closed down their opponents quickly and they ran well when in possession.
