Coaches report
We were low on numbers this week, relying on borrowed players from the opposition to be in a position to put a team out is never easy. As the game progressed the lack of fresh legs and injury free bodies definitely took its toll which ultimately led to a loss for the home side 25 – 65.
Keep this quiet, but wow, can our lads scrummage!! A brilliant effort from the pack who were stable on our put in and managed to drive a larger pack off their own ball in many of the scrums. Our scrum dominance helped a brave second half effort from the team and tries from Jay (x3) , Oscar and Fin D which made sure Rochford will have left with some areas to work on in training during the week.
We managed to get both teams eating together after the match which gave the captains the opportunity to recognise a player from the opposing team that they felt stood out during the game, the Rochford captain chose Beesea for his work rate in the tight, open play and in the scrum. The coaches agreed that Beesea played really well and also wanted to highlight the contribution from Jay Wells today, he never gave up, led by example, ran in 3 tries and turned in a real captains performance.
As always thanks to the whole team, the parents and our referee, we hope to see all the boys at training on Wednesday.
