Arriving at Colchester to find a nice firm ground but a Strong wind across the pitch, the game got under way and appeared fairly even during the opening exchanges. Both teams showing promise in attack and defence, but also both losing some of their own 'Put-ins' at the scrum. The deadlock was broken by some positive attacking play from B'tree eventually paying off, ultimately the ball making its way into Elliott Vokes hands who showed great determination in touching the ball down to score. This seemed to give B'tree a lift, with everyone now showing a hunger in attack to join him on the scoreboard. But again it was Elliott Voke proving hard to stop with ball in hand charging to the line for his second try. Further scores came from the jinking Center Lewis Morgan, and Winger Harry Haymer to finish the 1st half 0-20.
The conditions didn't ease in the 2nd half with the wind now slightly in Colchester's favour. B'tree continued to show strong resolute defence when Colchester had possession, never allowing them to look like scoring. The B'tree Forwards resolved their issues effecting the scrum early in the match, to now putting the home team under pressure at the scrum seeming to shove them with ease, even though we created a lot of possession we couldn't turn this into points. The second half was drawing to a close when a B'tree attack paid off with Teddy Bull making it a Fifth try for B'tree. The game soon came to an end, having scored 5 tries and not conceding any, a great result for the Braintree team.
Noah Collar was named as man of the match by the opposition. A great team effort all around. Well done boys.
