A solid performance in testing conditions

Captain's Report
Sunday’s game against Maldon in the terrible conditions was a good win despite some of the decisions not going our way. We played some flowing rugby considering the weather and made the most of our size advantage in the pack. We kept our heads and stayed disciplined throughout the game. We have had a good start to the season and need to carry our form into the next few games.

Match Report
on the wettest, coldest day for a number of months we face Maldon in our second league game of the campaign. It was never going to be a day for beautiful, running rugby but the lads controlled the game from the offset and dominated possession for large periods of the game.

Positives

• Positive from the off - early score on the board which always settles the team into their flow.
• Cohesive defence - solid tackling, rucking and work around the breakdown was very strong.
• Scrum - solid scrum which gave us positive ball on which to build our attack.
• Generally a great performance considering the appalling conditions.

Work on's

• Again we put ourselves under pressure with some handling errors, which the conditions didn't help, and there were a few wafty decisions! but these allow us to consider different options on the training field and help the lads improve their decision making going forward.
• Our penalty count wasn't great which also builds the pressure.
