Braishfield maintained their bid for the Premier Division title with a hard earned win against an in-form Select Generation side.
Returning to action after several weeks, Braishfield made a dream start when Jamie Beard headed home on 3 minutes. They continued to attack, but despite going close on several occasions, were unable to extend their lead before the interval.
Select Generation changed formation for the second half, and put Braishfield under plenty of pressure. A well struck shot rattled the cross-bar and defender Ben Beddoes saved a certain equaliser with an heroic goal line clearance. There was plenty of entertainment for the large crowd, Braishfield were a threat on the break and should have added a second when striker Jamie Nash was released clear on goal, but after rounding the advancing goalkeeper he then hit the post rather than the back of the empty net. In a dramatic finale, the visitors continued to attack but Braishfield defended well, and after another break they put the issue beyond doubt on 86 minutes when veteran Andy Clark scored with a clinical finish.
