Leeds Medics 8 v 14 Bramley Phoenix

In horrendous freezing rain and sleet conditions on the touch line , we were entertained to 2 teams who were playing to the conditions in a tough encounter and Bramley managed to come away with a win.

Medics were unable to play there normal expansive game due to handling errors and a Bramley defence that wouldn’t allow them to get moving with Tom Langton showing the way forward tackling anything that moved.
Sam kicked an early penalty to give the away team a 0-3 lead
Medics tried to move the ball but Bramley again repelled most advances but did let them in for a unconverted try 5-3 .
Leeds Medics tried to spread the Bramley defence with some open play but the conditions hampered there efforts and resulted in some spilt ball .
Bramley couldn’t seem to gain any advantage losing nearly all our own line outs .

Much the same in the second half ,with conditions keeping the score down and Tris coming on for Adam Roberts who had a better game apart from an obvious penalty from a ruck! but a rare bit of handling allowed Bramleys only try to come from Steven Mead and Sam missed the conversion 5 - 8.
But followed up with a penalty shortly after to give Bramley a 5 - 11 lead.

The second row engine room ran out of fuel and Danny Marshal retired and Adam Roberts returned along with Josh and the Medics replied with a penalty
(think it was Mr Roberts ) 8 - 11.
The ref had a good game and lango even kept quite apart from biting at one point .
Bramley withstood some pressure from the Medics and were rewarded with a penalty near the end which Sam had to kick dead at all cost and no pressure was put on him
( much ) but straight through the post to give Bramley a 8 -14 lead which were weren’t to let slip and won the game .
An excellent hard fought win which again showed character and keep Bramley in the hunt.
Johnny fillin was well impressed with the ladies hockey team and the models looking on , but they would have drunk him under the table given the pints flying down after the game.
