Confident performance vs 3rd in the league

This week the 2s played away in Barn Elms - a real 6 pointer with our top of the league status under threat up against 3rd place Witan.

Sensing the importance of the game the team immediately lobbied the captains for important changes to be made to shore up the team after 2 games without a win. Gary ‘ The Quiet One’ Pryde leading the charge for ‘Bobbinson out’. But to no avail.

Brent started strong with chances en masse for target man Pryde. A couple slid wide and one went high into the side netting. Later Alan commented that “You couldn’t hit a barn door”. Which was unfair. He could easily have hit a barn door. As long as it was placed near the corner flag and nowhere near the actual goal.

David O was the real standout in the first half - travelling for 13 hours to make the game, warming up then getting injured taking the kick off.

The opposition did threaten early on with Oli Phillip’s slightly fatter doppelganger looking the most dangerous down the right.

Happily Brent hit the gas pedal soon after with a couple of goals. I can’t really remember the order of the goals but we kicked ass anyway. It was 2-1 at half time.

The second half was pretty much one way traffic. Good work rate across the pitch meant the opposition didn’t get much of a sniff and when they did the back 4 were solid. The only risks came from the pitch, which had started to resemble the final day at Glastonbury.

Vatche showed how to take a penalty down the middle (Has anyone seen Stevo’s penalty?! WTF?!). Thomas made sure to time all his challenges in the box perfectly as to not give away a penalty.

Dan and Oli were pretty average throughout and only scored tap ins. Dave broke with tradition and actually scored an easy goal. ‘Quiet Man’ Pryde proved that if you scuff enough balls eventually one will go in.

Sylvain celebrated by creating a new way to walk around the changing room with most of his clothes on but still swinging his cock out. The showers got overly excited and decided to flood the changing room. The pub looked looked like a gourmet experience but actually shipped in Duffy’s 2018 sandwiches to make us feel at home.

Great team performance to ably take down 3rd in the league meaning we’re unbeaten from our two closest title challengers in the last 2 weeks. Mickelham are 2 from 2 and on a good cup run so next week’s game is another big one!
