It was great to see everyone back at Minis last Sunday. We also had a good crop of new faces joining the ranks.

1. Training is on as usual this Sunday.

2. Hockey kit/clothing - Our dedicated kit supplier Out There Sports will be attending the Brentwood Hockey Clubhouse (at the County Ground Cricket pitch) on Saturday 25th September (time tbc). They will have hoodies, socks, shorts and skorts etc available to buy. You don’t need to buy a playing shirt as all new members receive one on payment of subscription.

I recommend you have a look on the website and give them a call or place an order with "collection from Brentwood HC Club on 25/09" added to the delivery comments:

https://outtheresports.co.uk/our-clubs/hockey-clubs/brentwood-hockey-club/

If you’re unable to get there on the day, let me know and I’ll collect for you.

3. Tournaments - Please add the following dates to your diaries for the planned Minis tournaments. Tournaments consist of three or four short matches against other clubs. The aim is that all teams get to play for an hour in total. Hopefully we can enter teams of both boys and girls at under 10 and under 12 level. We won’t be running Minis training on these dates for the younger ones.

17 Oct 2021 – Venue - Colchester

7 Nov 2021 – Venue - Brentwood

TBC Dec 2021 – Venue Braintree

16 Jan 2022 – Venue Witham

23 Jan 2022 – Venue Colchester

20 Feb 2022 – Venue Witham

6 Mar 2022 – Venue Saffron Walden

27th March – Finals day - Venue Chelmsford

4. Annual subscriptions and registration - Due to the lockdowns last year the annual subscription will be reduced by 50% for those who paid the full £70 last season. If you are new to the club this season then the annual subs will be £70. This covers all training and entrance into the Minis hockey tournaments. You’ll also receive a Brentwood HC playing shirt. Please speak to me to discuss exceptional circumstances.
Contact me direct for the bank transfer details.

5. Hockey Heroes – Brentwood HC (Monica Hall and others) will be running the England Hockey Heroes introduction to hockey scheme this season alongside our existing Minis training. This is designed for beginners to hockey and will start on Sunday 3rd October at 10.15am to 11.15am for 8 weeks. This will be a great way for the younger ones to learn the game in a fun and entertaining way. The 8 week course costs £40 and if you want to sign up, the cost can be deducted from your annual subscription.

6. Gum shields and shin pads. There are strict rules on these. They are your personal choice. Personally, I wear both as there is an element of danger with sticks swinging and balls popping up off the ground. Gum shields can be uncomfortable to start with and you need to ensure they fit well. Shin pads are easy.

7. Pitchero registration. Please log in and register yourself (as parent) and your child(ren) to enable availability updates for tournaments and training etc.

Use this link:

https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/brentwoodhockeyclub/signup

8. New members. If you know anyone interested in coming along then please encourage them. We do need more members to ensure we are able to enter teams into the tournaments.

9. Youth hockey training takes place on Tuesday evenings 7pm to 8pm at Becket Keys. This is open to all children aged 13 or over.

See you all on Sunday.

Regards
Simon

------------------------------------------------------------------------

WELCOME TO THE 2019/2020 SEASON

The season starts in September 2019.

OUR FIRST TRAINING SESSION WILL BE HELD ON 8TH SEPTEMBER 2019.
10am to 12pm
Becket Keys School Astro

Brentwood Hockey Club has a thriving youth hockey section, so please come along and join in.

Ages at mini hockey range from 5 to 12, both boys and girls.

Sessions run from 10am to 12pm each Sunday at the Astroturf at Becket Keys School (Sawyers Hall Lane, CM15 9DA). All abilities are welcome.

Older children (13 to 16) will go into our Academy sides who train on Tuesdays 7:00 to 9:00.

All children should bring the following: suitable sports clothing for the weather, trainers (or Astroturf shoes), shinpads and gumshield (if they have them) and a bottle of drink.

We have a large selection of sticks for new starters to use, so it is not necessary to buy one immediately,

The emphasis at training is to make it an enjoyable experience for the children, so that they can have fun, get fit and make friends. They will at the same time be given instruction in all the basic skills required and the basics of team play and tactics.

At Brentwood we offer:

· Teams entered into the Essex Mini Hockey League

· Academy indoor teams entered into the Essex Indoor League

· Junior teams entered into #IndoorHockey19 played at The Copper Box E20

· A pathway to representative hockey at Essex and East Regional levels (and beyond!)

Subscriptions this year remain at £80, which includes match fees and a shirt for new members.

If you have any questions, please get in touch. We look forward to seeing you soon!
