BYRON DAVIES PAST PRESIDENT

Although advised privately to Members at the time Byron one the influx of Welsh School Teachers that helped form Essex Rugby clubs sadly passed away in April.
Byron was a lovely man and with his compatriots and fellow School Teachers Alan Wright, John Jones, John Griffiths and Dennis Jones both played and helped administrate the club through the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Byron and Co probably introduced the biggest single contributor to Essex Rugby being the teaching of Rugby in local comprehensive schools and introducing Mini rugby to clubs, I can vouch to this as Bryon was one off my Coaches as an Under 7, without the roles played by pioneers like Byron we would not have the thriving Junior Section and Club we have today.
Outside of Rugby Bryon was a keen singer and was an active member of the Brentwood Operatic Society and later on took up Bowls becoming Brentwood Bowls Club President also.
He will be sadly missed and our condolences although passed on at the time still go to his Family.
