Brentwood U16s secured a place in the Essex Cup Semi-Finals after a hard fought game against a powerful Upper Clapton team.

This was a very hard earned victory against a strong and committed Upper Clapton team, who took the early initiative with a try in the first minute. Brentwood shook off this early blow and looked to move the ball when in possession, but first had to try and subdue a very well drilled Upper Clapton pack to gain any territory.

Brentwood managed to orchestrate a couple of well engineered tries, and with a penalty try close to half time ended the first half 19-7 ahead. A third try from Edward Greenfield put Brentwood 24-7 ahead after 50 minutes, but from then on the Brentwood XV had to soak up a lot of pressure from an Upper Clapton team that had quality, pace and strength. A second try from Upper Clapton was well deserved and Brentwood should be pleased with this result in what was an entertaining and very watchable match.
