Brentwood 7 Thurrock 28 (London & South East Division: North 1) 13th February 2016

It was all doom and gloom last Saturday, as Brentwood made the short journey to Long Lane for a league game against old adversaries Thurrock.
Under leaden skies the away side, were well beaten by a Thurrock team, who got their revenge after losing at King Georges earlier in the season by 23 points to 13. The commitment and desire was there, but nothing seemed to go right for Brentwood as passes went astray and tackles where missed.

Their only purple patches were the final few minutes, of the first half when they put the Thurrock pack under tremendous pressure which resulted in the referee awarding a penalty try, which Henry Bird duly converted and, the first 10 minutes of the second half when Brentwood were camped in the Thurrock final third of the pitch but were held at bay by some excellent defence from the home side.

Other than that it was all Thurrock as they ran in three good tries, two of which were converted plus three penalties to end the game worthy winners.

However when all is said and done, Brentwood are still very well placed in the league table, sitting third behind Tring and Amersham and Chiltern both of whom have four points more than Brentwood. Both of these teams are yet to face Brentwood at home meaning our season is still very much alive.

It is imperative that the team put this game behind them and return to winning ways next Saturday when CS Rugby 1863, visit King Georges, kick off 2.30
