Thistle were at home again today, hosting to the travelling side Ellon that saw 9 goals scored, but only one of them in the first half, which was from the penalty spot for the away team. An eventful second half with some inconsistent decisions eventually saw Thistle take all 3 points.
 
Ellon were awarded a free kick minutes into the first half in what could have been a threatening position, just outside the box, but the strike hit the Thistle wall and eventually into the hands of PARK. The opening 10 minutes allowed for pretty even play. Thistle were making chances but they weren't converting into goals.
 
Both sides were pushing to make a change to the scoreline but half an hour in and it was still 0-0. Ellon then won a corner at 34 minutes which led to a penalty from a supposed shirt pull in the box which they managed to scored from.

The following 10 minutes saw similar play with no more goals scored, taking the first half to a close with the away side in the lead.

Half time changes saw a different game in the second half. S RENNIE, ALEXANER and MCINNESS were all brought on, who all made a difference to the game. Thistle were taking back posession from Ellon set pieces, taking shots on target and defending where needed, yet Thistle were still a goal down 15 minutes into the second half.
This all changed a minute later with a run by CRAIG beat the Ellon keeper and found the back of the net, putting Thistle back in the game.

Ellon attempted a come back minutes later but Thistle defended well with a header over the bar, giving them a corner which they made another attempt. This was kept from going over the line and then the second attempt on the ball was shot wide. Thistle retaliated instantly at the other end with an excellent strike from S RENNIE at the edge of the box from a throw in put the home side ahead at 66 minutes.

Both sides were fighting, Ellon with a shot over the bar and CRAIG with a shot just wide at the other end. It was end to end football. Ellon had another chance at 72 minutes which was over the bar but PARK had it covered and again, Thistle reacted with MUIRHEAD only narrowly missing in the box. Minutes later, Thistle still on the attack, a goal kick found the right player and ALEXANDER got Thistle a third goal.

The game wasn't over. A questionable hand ball call gave Ellon a second penalty. PARK saved this but the second touch saw Ellon score.

A minute later and the scoreline changed again. Thistle stretched the lead with a goal by MCINNESS.

Another free kick was given Ellon's way at 80 minutes just outside the box which saw the strike find the bottom of the net.

Another attempt by Ellon at 85 minutes produced a good save by PARK but the play that followed saw CRAIG be shown the red card to contested foul language where a similar incident previous to this given a different decision. Ellon took full advantage to the situation and scored two minutes later.

This didn't stop the home side with MUIRHEAD getting Thistle's 5th and final and winning goal of the match.
