Three-day Minor Counties Championship contest against Cornwall starts on Sunday...

Bridgnorth's first team captain Sam Whitney will lead Shropshire in a three-day match for the first time at Cricket Meadow this weekend, after taking a five-wicket haul whilst skippering the county against a Worcestershire XI at his home ground last summer.

Whitney is relishing the opportunity to lead the county at Bridgnorth, and made particular mention to the crowds that often come along to watch at Cricket Meadow.

"I get loads of support every time I play at Bridgnorth, and captaining the county here is very special. Everyone at the club always makes a massive effort to ensure everyone feels welcome, and the ground is always absolutely perfect. It's one of the best places there is to play cricket!"

Admission is free for all spectators, with action scheduled to start at 11am all three days. The bar will be open from 12 noon each day, offering outside hospitality. All spectators are politely asked to continue following appropriate safety guidelines in place whilst at the ground.
