A fantastic late spell of swing bowling from youngster Albert Roberts brought Bridgnorth back into a low scoring game in the dying moments, but Harcourt ultimately came out on top.
After choosing to bat first on a pitch clearly affected by the wet weather from the previous days, skipper Guy Black top-scored with 59. Fellow opener Mike Mooney (11) battled hard against an some accurate bowling to help post a 50-run opening partnership, but his dismissal signalled the beginning of the end.
Wickets began to tumble against the moving ball to a mixture of slightly ambitious shots, as an inexperienced batting side struggled to find momentum. Roberts was the only other man to reach double figures, as Bridgnorth finished to 113-9 after 35 overs.
In reply, the hosts got off to a solid start, reaching 45-0 before Steve Barclay pulled off an excellent direct-hit run-out from mid-off. Some big shots from the hosts then forced skipper Black to ring the changes as he searched for wickets, but by the time he picked up the 2nd wicket to fall, the match appeared to swiftly heading towards a home win.
Roberts accurate, testing spell of 4 wickets for 5 runs off 3 overs demonstrated his immense talent, and may have proved to be a match-winning performance had a number of catches not been dropped earlier in the innings.
Needing a win, the thirds return to Chelmarsh on Saturday where they face Welsh outfit Guilsfield.
