Reece Moody's hat-trick sent Brigg Town to the Challenge Cup final.

Brigg Town reached the Challenge Cup final defeating Louth Town 4-2.

Brigg played well despite having ten men for an hour following Sam East's dismissal. East should NOT have seen red - his first of two yellow cards was absolutely ridiculous!

The Zebras had an otherwise good day and Reece Moody's hat-trick secured a place in the final.

There were three changes with East, Adam Gowing and Moody replacing Cameron Houson, Jake Parker and Jonny Nicholls.

Early on Moody latched onto Jack Tierney's free kick and gave Brigg the lead with a neat finish. It took a heavy deflection off Bradley Coulam - some thought it was an own goal, but Moody got the benefit of the doubt.

Louth almost equalized when Harry Crawford hit the post.

Cameron Hill then came close, heading narrowly wide from Tierney's free kick.

Afterwards Ryan Thompson's corner was met by Chris Rodgers, whose header flew inches over the top.

On 30 and 31 minutes East was booked twice in quick succession.

East's first booking was for allegedly delaying the restart of play. He only picked the ball up and held it for a few seconds after a stoppage in play.

If the referee had asked East to give the ball back and he'd taken far too long it would have been understandable.

Moments later East picked up a second yellow for a foul on Jack Barker. That booking was fair enough - he shouldn't have already been booked though!

Although Brigg rightly felt aggrieved, they kept going and scored shortly before half time. Jake Reed dribbled past a few players and played in Moody, who slotted in his second of the afternoon.

Brigg picked up where they left off in the second half with Moody squaring for Thompson to fire home.

Rocky Rawlings pulled one back for Louth, but they conceded a penalty when Crawford tripped Thompson in the box. Moody took the resulting kick and completed his hat-trick from the spot.

Louth responded with another goal from Rawlings, who finished well inside a crowded box.

Robin Beecroft's effort was then cleared off the goal line by Thompson.

Late on Robbie Aldrich pulled off a string of fine saves to deny Reed, Moody and Joe Moloney.

At the other end Declan Jordan was also called into action, saving Beecroft's shot at full stretch.

In stoppage time Rawlings came close to a hat-trick, shooting just wide with the last kick of the game.

At full time Brigg were delighted to progress to the final. They're now Lincs Junior Cup and Challenge Cup finalists.

Manager Lee Thompson was pleased.

"We played well despite having ten men for an hour. Sam East's first of two yellows was so unlucky.

"Our response to the red card was good though. We kept going and took our chances to win comfortably.

"Reece Moody scored three of our goals and set up the other. He had a great game and was man of the match.

"We've now got two cup finals to look forward to. They'll be great days out for our fans and hopefully we'll win silverware that they all deserve.

"Both of them will be great!"

On Saturday, Brigg visit Ruston Sports in the league (kick off 3pm).

Brigg (3-4-1-2): Jordan; East, Rodgers (c), Tierney; Thompson, Raithby (Davies 68), Gowing (Nicholls 79), Dolling (Houson 27 [Moloney 74]); Reed; Hill, Moody.
