Brigg went into this game full of confidence after seven consecutive wins. However, winning at Moorlands is difficult for any team in the Lincolnshire Football League - no matter how good their current form is.
There were four changes with Joe Smithson, Joe Taylor, Adam Gowing and Jonny Nicholls replacing George Merrick, Will Forrest, Jake Reed and Jack Tierney.
Brigg took an early lead through Sam East, who headed home from Joe Taylor's free kick.
Afterwards Brigg should have had a penalty when Reece Moody was brought down. It wasn't given though and Moorlands got one that Josh Martin converted.
In the second half Chris Rodgers scored an unfortunate own goal.
Brigg then went for it in search of an equalizer. This was well worth the risk, but it didn't work and Josh Raby's late goal put the result beyond doubt.
Moorlands played well and were worthy winners. Brigg were unable to continue the winning streak and it wasn't their day.
Manager Lee Thompson had mixed thoughts.
"We started very brightly going 1-0 up and should have had a penalty. Once they levelled they settled down and to be fair it was a 50/50 game.
"They seemed to want it more than us. Even on an off day for some of our players we still had enough chances to win the game.
"Joe Smithson was our man of the match. I don't think he lost a header and played well at the back.
"This was a bad result, but we'd done very well before then. It was our first defeat this season and we're still top of the league.
"Seven wins in a row was fantastic."
On Saturday, Brigg host Lincoln United Development Squad in the Supplementary Cup (kick off 2:30pm).
