Brighouse Echo Sports News

WALSALL-BASED goalkeeper Laurence Bilboe has arrived at Brighouse Town via the Banks' Stadium and The New York Stadium with present club Rotherham Utd and is delighted with the welcome he has been afforded by his new teammates.

He was signed ahead of the game with South Shields and will compete with Christopher Butt for Saturday's game with Skelmersdale Utd.

He commenced for his hometown club Walsall as a 16-year-old when current Brentford manager Dean Smith and his assistant Richard O'Kelly were in charge and then two seasons ago moved to play for the Millers. He is in the Rotherham first team squad under manager Paul Warne and his goaklkeeping coach Mike Pollitt.

He has been on the bench five times this season for Rotherham and was recalled from a spell at Sheffield FC after two games for that reason.

However, he says his manager and goalkeeper coach are keen he has game time in men's football and gains all the experience he can. He commutes everyday from Walsall to Rotherham for training Monday and Tuesday, with Wednesday off and then Thursday and Friday plus now putting in Tuesday and Thursday evening shifts at training with Town. His current contract with Rotherham runs out in the summer and he is keen to win another and for the moment get good reports from his Town manager Vill Powell.

Town's custodian for the opening three months of the season, Halifax-born and former Harrogate Town player Chandler Hallwood, had the plaster caste removed from his broken scaphoid last week and will resume training after the holiday period. He joined the Town squad for their festive night out in Leeds last Saturday evening following a meal at the ground.
