BRIGHOUSE TOWN gave a tremendous performance in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary round replay on Tuesday night and didn’t really deserve to lose.
Brighouse were the better side in the first twenty minutes without question and Iwan Healey put a good ball to Carl Stewart but Dan Lowson saved one on one.
Brighouse then took the lead in the 13th minute when they were awarded a free kick for a foul on Ousman Cham and from 25 yards out Reece Kendall beat Lowson.
Kendall was just wide with a header two minutes later from a Healey corner and then Tom Robinson drew a brilliant one handed save from Lowson after being put through by Stewart.
Debutant goal keeper Finley Madigan from the Huddersfield Amateurs Club, Elland, pulled off a good save in the 26th minute from Ben Sayer who was then wide in the 28th and 32nd minutes.
The pressure then told and from a poor clearance from Jack Lazenby, Sean Taylor levelled the scores.
Almost on half time Kendall almost lobbed the keeper, the ball just going over the bar with inches to spare..
Shortly into the second half Tom Haigh replaced Lazenby and was only on the field a matter of seconds before Brighouse took the lead again with a Kurt Harris goal.
Only 90 seconds later and Taylor had levelled it at 2-2 when he beat Josh Grant and then Madigan at his near post.
Morpeth were awarded a free kick following a foul by Kendall six minutes later and Sayer, easily their best player, sent in a 22 yard free kick to beat the wall and a diving Madigan.
Brighouse, who brought on Darnell Mintus for Stewart in the 69th minute, really troubled the home side with their pace and Robinson was just wide near the end along with Mintus and Jacques Etia.
Attendance 503
Referee: Paul Cooper (Peterlee).
