BRIGHOUSE TOWN surrendered a 2-0 lead in the second half to bottom club Goole and heaped more pressure on themselves as others in the basement of Evo-Stik NPL Division One North also won apart from Skelmersdale United.

Once more set pieces and weak defending cost them dearly along with missed chances and a referee's howler in added on time when he allowed a Goole pass back inside the six yard box!

Brighouse started well and created two early chances and put pressure on the away goal, which resulted in third time lucky when on 15 minutes Aaron Martin walked the ball into the net after a mix-up between centre half Sam Coulbear and keeper Ben Saynor.

Goole fought back with the much travelled Carl Stewart just shooting wide of the goal and then Emile Sinclair following up and also just clearing the Town bar with his attempt.

Gabriel Johnson, playing in midfield in the absence of the injured Tomm Haigh, and Martin both went near for Town and Ferdy Annor set up Waide Fairhurst but his shot lacked any power in it.

Stewart then tested Chris Butt before at the other end Iwan Heeley had a superb in swinging corner well saved . Play was ene-to-end and after a poor punch-out by Butt, Connor Griffin saved the day with his clearance on 38 minutes. Town then held sway in to the half time break.

Town opened the second half by being awarded a free kick in a good position but Heeley's attempt went well over the bar with Fairhurst calling for it on the left hand edge of the box.

Goole then exerted pressure on the Town goal and eventually got a corner but the ball went out and Town quickly switched play to the other end and thanks to George Gomersall down the the right crossing a great ball in, Martin capitalised just inside the box to hammer it past Saynor.

The visitors then pulled a goal back from a free kick , Stewart reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 57th minute.

Piling on the pressure Goole then levelled the scores on 62 minutes with a Sam Colbear header from a corrner out on the right.

In the 64th minute there was a flare up in front of the dug outs after Goole's Terry Barwick had badly scythed down Heeley who was writing in agony. Before the player could be spoken to by referee Leo Howard players on both sides squared up to each other. When it all died down Barwick was cautioned and then both captains lectured.

Town brought on fresh legs in the 74th minute with Aidan Kirby replacing Fairhurst. Both sides were going flat out for the winner and there anxious moments in both goalmouths.

Then with nine minutes of play remaining Town made another change with Mohammed Ibrahim coming on for Gabriel Johnson.

The referee indicated five minutes of added time.

Town had a great chance to win it after Ibrahim had come in from the left to go one on one with Saynor but the keeper parried his shot and eventually regathered via a very controversial back pass.

Kirby was also left frustrated Ibrhahim had not squared the ball across goal to him as he was unmarked and some 10 yards from an open goal.

It was in six minutes of added time that Goole then added a third goal and stole victory, thanks to a clinical finish from substitute Declan Howe who had made a huge difference to the Goole team after he had come on for the second half.
