ANOTHER LOSS on the road for Town but the scoreline did not reflect the game, especially in the first half and for 25 minutes of the second half.

In fact makeshift striker Tom Haigh should have had a hat-trick and the home goal led a charmed life in the first 45 minutes.

The home side, playing in front of a vociferous 1,361 attendance and looking for promotion, led at the break by a Michael Coulson goal in the 13th minute but that came against the run of play.

Town had done most of the attacking with the midfield of Alfie Hammond and Adam Jones stopping the hosts attacking and then pushing good balls forward for Gabriel Johnson, Haigh and Isaac Marriott.

Town's centre half James Hurtley and fellow defenders Callum Hall and Adam Field were pushing forward and any neutral spectators would have thought Town were the side pushing for promotion.

On the rare occasion Scarborough did scheme a move into a scoring position keeper George Clarke dealt with the shots.

On 25 minutes Town should have scored when the ball landed on Haigh's forehead in the six yard box but he headed over. Some 13 minutes later after more Town pressure former Brighouse keeper Tom Taylor came out of his goal and box and collided with his centre back Josh Snowden, the ball came clear to Haigh who had an open goal looking at him but he didn't dip the shoulder and just guide the ball home. Instead, he advanced on goal and then squared to Johnson whose shot was blocked by defender Bailey Gooda.

Snowden was eventually carried off and replaced by Tom White and this resulted in five minutes of added on time.

In this period Haigh sent in a blistering 30 yard shot which Taylor just managed to tip over the bar.

Town recommenced the second half still in the ascendancy with both Haigh just heading over from a good cross and Hammond just firing wide.

In the 57th minute Lewis Riley replaced Jones, who had given his all. Four minutes later and Scarborough's best player beat Riley for pace and then as he played the ball to White, the substitute just fell over in the box and the referee awarded a very soft penalty. Coulson sent Clarke the wrong way to make it 2-0.

Two minutes later and Danny Naidole replaced Hall as Town worked hard to try and get back in the game and in the 70th minute Iwan Heeley, back from injury, took over from Hammond.

In the 81st minute James Walshaw ensured his side had a three goal cushion when he used his height to rise up and head home a Coulson corner. There was just a minute of normal time left when Jorome (correct) Slew came in from the left and then put in a great shot to beat Clarke and show Town what clinical finishing in the final third is all about.
