Bulletin No 31
March 17th 2014
IN THE LEAGUE ON SATURDAY
Godmanchester Rovers completed the double over league leaders Hadleigh United with a 4-2 victory at The Millfield on Saturday. The home side twice came from behind to go in 2-2 at the interval but second half goals from Nius Savalnieus and Jamie Blackwell sealed the win for the visitors. Hadleigh have now lost their last 4 home games, two in the league and one each in the Red Insure Cup and FA Vase. Next Saturday they visit second in the table Felixstowe & Walton United.
Ely City leap frogged over their hosts and out of the relegation places with a last gasp 4-3 victory at FC Clacton. Goalkeeper Lee Pacey scored the added on time free kick winner for the Robins, the second time he has scored at the Rush Green Bowl. Ely City have now won 21 of their 22 points away from home.
Whitton United extended their lead at top of the First Division with a 4-1 success at Downham Town, their fifth league win in a row. Also celebrating their fifth successive win were Stowmarket Town who beat Saffron Walden Town 3-1. Stowmarket do not play again until Tuesday March 25th when they travel to Whitton, whose only league defeat this season was at …. Stowmarket.

FELIXSTOWE AND NEWMARKET IN RED INSURE CUP FINAL
Felixstowe & Walton United booked their place in the League Challenge (Red Insure) Cup Final with an extra time victory over Brantham Athletic on Tuesday evening. Goals from Ryan Clark and Andy Crump sealed the Seasiders victory and they now face Newmarket Town in the Final at Diss Town on May 5th.

Pictured receiving the award from League President John Day is Hadleigh United Chairman Rolf Beggerow. Looking on is Alex Handsaker from Thurlow Nunn Limited.
