Brighton Rogues HC is proud to announce that our very own Larna Mewett-Mayer, Co-Chair of the club, has been appointed to the board of South East Hockey Futures (SEHF) — a new initiative aimed at transforming the grassroots hockey landscape across the region.
What Is South East Hockey Futures (SEHF)?
Launched by England Hockey, SEHF is a funding and support programme that enables clubs to:
Successful applicants can receive up to £1500 in funding, alongside delivery support from the SEHF team. The goal? To make the South East a national leader in grassroots and inclusive hockey.
Larna brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) through her work in both the charity and youth development sectors. Larna has previously worked in education for 8 years, worked in the charity sector for the last 4 as well as been a trustee for a young persons charity and contributed to charity work placements.
From leading regional EDI initiatives to developing access strategies for underrepresented groups, Larna will support the board in ensuring SEHF funding decisions will be rooted in fairness, purpose, and a clear commitment to breaking down barriers in our sport.
Why Rogues? Why Now?
Brighton Rogues HC does not currently operate a junior section — and that’s exactly why Larna’s perspective is so valuable. With no direct vested interest in youth participation at our club, Larna offers a unique objectivity, helping SEHF support clubs across the South East in ways we are not yet positioned to do ourselves. It's a rare opportunity for Rogues to contribute to the broader growth of hockey, even as we continue to focus on inclusive adult participation.
By stepping into this role, Larna ensures that Rogues are part of the solution — helping shape a more accessible, more inclusive hockey ecosystem across our region.
