As the rain poured over the Meadowbank, Brimscombe took to the field against Shortwood in their latest Pre-Season friendly.
It was the perfect start for the host's with youngster Levi Matthews putting them ahead on 11 minutes. Brimscombe felt that they should have been awarded a penalty early in the first half but all shouts were turned away by the Referee. The Lilywhites proceeded to play some beautiful football in response to going behind and soon found themselves on level terms when Elliot Green netted the ball, straight from the off Green was causing more problems for Shortwood and took his opportunity to put the ball past the 'Wood 'keeper once again. With the time edging closer to half time, James Campbell managed to lose his man and put it away, giving the Lilywhites a 2 goal cushion at the break.
The rain still came down in the second half with the surface holding up well to the elements. Manager Sam Prior made several changes during the second half with Ollie Pitt, Jack Smith, Henry Birkett, Eli Simpson, Joe Wright and John Evans all making cameos. The visitors were awarded a penalty just ten minutes into the second half with Ash Caldwell comfortably putting it away in to the top corner away from the Shortwood 'keeper. The game was all but over, Wright was forced in to making a couple of fantastic saves but Ollie Pitt dealt the final blow when he found the net on the 90 minute mark.
