We started against Broad Plain and they did not have anything going forward and we felt comfortable. However we were too 'excitable' and 'frantic' at the thought of rugby and did not settle. Our concentration lapsed and they got a lucky break through (the only one in the whole match) and they scored just to the right of the posts and converted. Then the referee blew for half time, admitting she had not noticed it should have been half time over a minute before. Never the less we scored straight back in the second half but did not convert the conversion. We had many more opps, but our handling and heads let us down. Nothing else from Broad Plain, however a wins a win and they won the match 5-7. Looking forward to playing the XV version in the season.
Next up was Aretians who looked solid enough, but did not appear to have much on the flanks, so our approach was to soak up the hits in the middle of the park and spread it wide and use the pace that we had. This worked and the were lots of new calls 'Riot Ball' for stealing and 'Plasma' for stick it up your jumper and run! How topical we are!! A solid win against Aretians, again Im sure they are looking forward to playing the proper version of the game in the season.
We assumed there was no final as Broad Plain had left the pitch and it should have been us against Broad Plain, so no idea what happened there!
Great hospitality by Aretians too after the game and a good atmosphere in the club house after and great to see so many BAC supporters too, thanks all!
Lots for myself and Casper to work on before our next warm up games and tournaments, plus lots of good performances.
