For both teams this match must have had a touch of déjà vu to it, having played against each other here on Thursday evening under the floodlights. (We unfortunately lost that one)

Broadbridge started at a fair pace and were pushing the play and creating opportunities in midfield but were unable to create any credible chances on goal.

After 8 minutes it seemed to us ( the fans ) that maybe we were experiencing a déjà-vu moment when Roffey put one in the back of the net to lead 1-0. It was a well worked goal from them, but it did catch us out, and this is where Roffey can be dangerous, although being an 8th minute goal I don't think our boys were too rattled by it because there was plenty of time to recover. Nevertheless these are goals that we can't afford to let happen.

Broadbridge Heath picked up the play and once again found themselves in possession of the ball for large periods of the game. The defence today was very good and when Roffey came forward our lads had them covered, the midfield were battling again to get every ball that they could and Roffey were again having to do a lot of work in their own half.

On one of our forward moves the ball came to Charlie Nichols who unleashed a power shot from well outside the box which went just over the bar. Maybe a timely reminder to Roffey, who were sitting on a 1-0 lead, that we were not a team to be disregarded.

Despite some good efforts the first half ended 1-0 to Roffey.

After the break both teams realised the need for a goal and the play reflected this. On the 57th minute a good forward move in the Roffey box brought 2 good saves from their keeper indicating a shift in gear from Broadbridge Heath followed by a switch on the pitch with striker Mason Doughty coming on for Jack Griffiths.

In the 64th minute picking up a great ball on the left Mason got past the last defender and chipped the keeper sending the ball over into the top right, equalling the score but more importantly giving the team a much needed boost. 1-1. Broadbridge Heath now were playing for the win and whilst Roffey also upped the pace accordingly, it was BBH who seemed the more in control.

With a win in mind Albert Hill sent a fantastic ball sailing over to Mason who again beat his marker and this time got it on his right boot and struck it low past the keeper at his near post. 2-1 to Broadbridge Heath.

Broadbridge Heath play some great football at times but they don't always get as much from a game as they should. Today the boys showed great resolve and strength to create good moves and passes and found themselves rewarded with a result they earned. A good team effort, and a pleasure to watch.
