Youth team ease to a win to make the next round of the Cup

18th October 2015

Broadbridge Heath vs Seddledcombe

Conditions: Cloudy/ Sunny spells

Att: 23

Broadbridge Heath start the game in full flow, giving Seddlescombe little time to establish any level of control or posession, and after 2 minutes a nice pass from Tommy Stevens down the left wing allows Mason Doughty to cross a great ball to the right for Jack Griffiths to open up the scoring with a perfectly placed strike into the goal. 1-0 to Broadbridge Heath.

Seddlescombe seem surprised by this quick goal but they gather themselves and start to get into the game a little, looking dangerous at times but lacking that final shot on goal.

Our defence had a hand in this as well, making it difficult for them to break through and closing them down so that they had very little in terms of possession in the box.

After 10 minutes another fine pass from Tommy Stevens finds Mason Doughty who hits a left foot shot across the goal that unfortunately bounces off the post.

A minute later from another great forward move Ronnie Burchell hits a lovely shot from just outside the box forcing a great save from the Seddlescombe keeper.

The next 15 minutes sees both teams battling for possession but BBH just edge it in terms of producing shots on goal.

After 24 minutes Darren Helsdown keeps the opposition keeper on his toes with a hard low shot, as a reminder to Seddlescombe that we are pushing for more goals.

Finally after 29 minutes following a good deal of work up and down the pitch from all of the team, our second goal comes from a slowly lobbed shot by Tommy Stevens that beats the keeper and goes in off the back post. 2-0 to BBH.

BBH keep up the pressure and in the 43rd minute, following a good BBH attack on goal Seddlescombe respond with a good move on the break bringing the ball up the pitch to score from a well placed cross.

The first half ends 2-1 to BBH.

There have been a few hefty challenges in the first half and both teams come on for the second half with a renewed determination to win.

Following another of these challenges, BBH get a free kick outside the box in the 49th minute, which Rowan Chalk floats over the defence to be picked up by Tommy Stevens who watches the ball down and hits it first time for our third and his second. 3-1 to BBH.

For the remainder of the game there are periods of high activity from BBH in attack and defence but unfortunately no further goals.

Our forwards kept the pressure up well scoring three for the win, but our defence worked very hard and that is reflected in the fact that Seddlescombe had so few shots on goal that keeper Alfie Hadfield probably won't even need to wash his kit this weekend.
