A bad day at the office for Broadbridge Heath Youth team.

25/10/15
Wick & Barnham vs Broadbridge Heath Youth
General conditions: Dry,
sunny
Approx' Att: 24

On a sunny October morning with and an extra hour in bed, Broadbridge Heath are straight up and at them with a quick pace to their game making some good runs and pushing forward right from the start.

Wick & Barnham are slow to begin with but catch up with the pace very quickly and are also making some good attacking moves.
After 6 minutes the ref stops play for a head injury to one of the W&B players, unfortunately there had been a collision
and the player is substituted due to a swelling eye injury. ( Ambulance attends and hospital visit is advised... Hope you're Ok Fella!)
On the restart both teams keep the quick pace going and after 15 minutes a great pass from Callum Marshall across from the right finds Mason Doughty who chests it down and hits it on the volley for the keeper to save from close range. At this point the balance of play shifts and it is W&B who are bringing the ball forward and making more of the chances. Inevitably after 25 minutes they get the goal they had been working for. 1-0 to Wick & Barnham.

Four minutes later after a good deal of possession they get their second, a great cross from the left is chested down
and hit first time into the top of the goal. 2-0 to Wick & Barnham. BBH are just not playing the kind of football that we're used to seeing them play, they are not working together as they usually do. I have watched these boys play some wonderful football in the past, but I hate to say, they are lacklustre today. After 34 minutes W&B hit the post and in the 42nd they get their third goal. 3-0 to Wick & Barnham. Half time can't come quickly enough for BBH, and a break for them to regroup and recover.

The second half sees some welcome enthusiasm from BBH and they start to gain some time with the ball and are moving and passing well. On 49 minutes Mason Doughty chases down a defender and blocks his clearance with the ball running out to Ronnie Burchell who slams it in from 25 yards, to get one back for us and hopefully allow us to believe we can get back in the game. 3-1 to Wick & Barnham.

From the centre kick W&B keep up the pressure and coming forward they hit the post first, then the rebound is picked up and shot back at goal forcing a superb save by Alfie Hadfield. After 53 minutes BBH are moving forward and get a corner, which comes in high to Mason Doughty for a header which bounces off the top of the crossbar. At this point BBH are still in it but they need another goal to really fire them up, but after 57 minutes W&B get a goal from a corner to make it 4-1 to Wick & Barnham.

Sometimes you have days where nothing you do is enough, and today was that day for us.

Goals for W&B on: 67, 76, 80, 87, and yes! 90! Leave us with a score line of 9-1 to Wick & Barnham.

These games, though hard to endure must result in positives, our boys need to look at their team dynamic and make sure
that they cover each other as a team and help each other in every situation that they can.

Hard luck lads, but you all know you can do better. We'll still be there to cheer you on at the next one though.
