A long way to travel for an evening match under the floodlights and for the first time this season we only had one substitute on the bench, shame really with the winners going through to the semi-final of the competition but understandable, it’s a long way to go and its difficult for some to get there for an evening kick off, just pleased we could fulfil the fixture.
Heath started brightly and took the lead on 17 minutes when the ball found its way to Zac Lamont in the D on the edge of the box and the player took it past a defender before hitting a low right foot shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Heath were then forced to use their only substitute with Michael Sheriff picking up an injury and 4 minutes later the home-side drew level with a shot direct from a free kick just outside the box, minutes later it was 2-1 when Hastings scored from a corner and just before the break it was 3-1.
Heath made things even more difficult for themselves by scoring an own goal for the 4th and the hosts wrapped up the scoring 5 minutes from time for a comfortable win that sees them through to the semi-finals.
A good performance from the Hastings Development players who looked a very good side and we wish them well in the semi-finals, disappointing from a Heath point of view with so many players unavailable it was always go to be tough night, no helped by a payer being “sin binned” but the team can now concentrate on the league and league cup next year.
