Fold take the points to move above The Bears

A week earlier Heath won 3-0 to move to the top of the mini-division in the SCFL Supplementary Cup for Premier Division Clubs and with a win today we could have maintained that lead but things don't always go as planned.

A glorious day for football, the sun was out, the sky was blue, what more could you hope for. The visitors team list included a few ex Heath players with Dan Mobsby, Jamie Wanstall and Mitchell Clark all starting and Devon Fender and Renato Carvalho also at the match but not being needed.

The visitors took the lead when a long ball was played down the left flank, the Heath bench calls for offside were ignored by the Assistant Referee as the player went on to score with a low shot off the inside of the post and in. One soon before two before Jamie Taylor scored the goal of the match with a strike from 25 yards that gave the Alfold keeper no chance and that's how it remained at the break.

Within 2 minutes of the restart the visitors scored their third but once again Heath fought back with Graig Goodsir converting from a spot kick 2-3 to Alfold. Heath continued pushing forward in search of the equaliser, Taylor was pulled back on the edge of the penalty area when though on goal but surprisingly the Referee only produced a yellow card when surely that had to be a red, maybe the heat was getting to him?

Against the run of play Alfold broke away to score their fourth and soon after made it five. In the closing stages The Alfold keeper made a great save to deny Charlier Parmiter and Ollie Joels crashed a header against the crossbar but the spoils went to the visitors.

It's been a strange competition so far, all three matches have been fairly even. The 3-0 win over Horsham YMCA flattered us somewhat, one of those games when our finishing was the difference. The 2-1 midweek loss at Loxwood was a game that Heath dominated the first half but the hosts dominated the second and a draw would probably have been a fair result and this 2-5 defeat was another even match despite the scoreline, with Heath having as many if not more goal scoring opportunities but failing to convert them. So at the halfway stage it's still anyone's guess who will go forward from this mini-league to the semi-final, I personally don't mind which team it is as long as they're wearing blue shirts with a Bear Logo.

Next up is an away match against Horsham YMCA on Tuesday 20th April at 7.30. Please Note Supporters are NOT Allowed at this game.
