Heath were travelling again last Saturday when a convey of cars hit the long and winding road to AFC Uckfield, doubts about the condition of the pitch following days of heavy rain were put to rest following a 10.00am pitch inspection and although a very heavy surface it was perfectly playable.
The hosts started well and put Liam Matthews goal under early pressure but gradually Heath started to play a bit and Tim Bennett had our first clear chance shooting just wide of the left hand post. Midway through the half Charlie Parmiter picked up the ball 30 yards from goal, he beat two defenders to get inside the penalty area and with the goal at his mercy from 12 yards he placed his shot wide of the onrushing keeper but also inches wide of the post and it remained 0-0 at the break.
Heath were on the attack again at the start of the second half when a Goodsir free kick came out to Parmiter and his first time shot was saved brilliantly at the foot of the post by the Uckfield keeper. Minutes later the keeper was off his line quickly to deny Jamie Taylor and that set the scene for a “Man of the Match” performance by the Uckfield stopper.
The only goal of the game was scored in the 82nd minute, a long ball forward by an Uckfield player was going nowhere but Mark Zydonik’s attempted clearance rebounded off substitute Tyler Pearson who ran through and coolly slotted under the advancing Matthews.
Heath continued to press for the equaliser but it ended with victory to the home-side, a result that sees them move up to second place in the table.
