Out first match after Christmas, at least that's what's scheduled at the moment but who can really tell what's going to happen tomorrow with this dreadful pandemic causing havoc in the country.
Assuming the match goes ahead it's a trip to one of my favourite grounds, Horsham YMCA. They may be our closest rivals but at the same time we've always had a really good and friendly relationship with the people at Gorings Mead and many of our past players have played for both clubs. However for 90 minutes on Boxing Day that friendly relationship will be on the back-burner as the two teams come head to head in this Macron Store SCFL Premier Division clash.
At this time of year you never know for sure what players will be available, I remember a few years ago we signed 6 players from Horsham YMCA Reserves, who at the time were playing in the Suburban League, just so we could fulfil a Boxing Day fixture in the SCFL Div 3 at Dorking Wanderers (whatever happened to them?). One player who will definitely be missing through suspension though is our skipper Alfie Jones but Andy Waddingham and Louis Blake both made a welcome return from injury to the side on Saturday.
The weather forecast looks good for the match so if you are coming along to support The Bears you may want to check out Horsham YMCA website to book match day tickets online and remember Kick Off is at 11.00am.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas.
