At the Club's 97th AGM, held via Zoom, members elected Steph Fleming as President with Louise Murray-Forsyth taking on the Vice-President Role.

It is the first time the club has elected two females to the senior posts whilst Fleming becomes just the second to be installed as President, following in the footsteps of Rebecca Glendinning who served for two seasons, from 2013-14.

Speaking after becoming Broughton's 33rd President since it formed in 1924, Fleming said, "Broughton welcomed me with open arms when I joined as a latecomer to the sport and now that I’m at the end of my playing days I’m incredibly proud to be offered the opportunity to give something back.

"It may be a well-used cliche, but this is a truly unique and fantastic rugby family. For me, I'd like to thank everyone involved for all the support, encouragement and sense of belonging I’ve enjoyed over the years from the committee, playing to non-playing members who volunteer and brave the elements on the touchlines to watch the teams in action."

As rugby clubs in Scotland prepare for a return to rugby in September, Fleming is looking forward to getting the teams back on the paddock for the first time since March last year and steering the club towards its centenary year in 2024.

President Fleming noted, "The immediate priority for me is sitting down with the new Committee and developing strategies working towards our fixed goal of allowing our teams back on the pitch playing rugby as safely as possible and help build upon previous years successes.

"It may well be a historic occasion having the President and Vice role filled by females, Fleming added, "however the 'one club' ethos has always been strongly endorsed by its membership. At the end of the day, I really don’t think it matters what gender we are. What does matter is that we are passionate about grassroots rugby and doing our best for Broughton."

Vice-President Murray-Forsyth, who has been Coaching at Broughton since 2013, added, "The main aim for us both is to drive Broughton forward in a positive fashion make rugby be the focus. Steph and I have already worked together through playing and coaching therefore we have an established bank of knowledge on how the club works."

The members thanked outgoing President Sandy Urquhart for his three years at the helm, in what were particularly challenging times for all.
