Following a remarkable Centenary season—which saw both the Men’s and Women’s teams crowned league champions—Park expressed her excitement at leading the club into a new chapter in its proud North Edinburgh history.
“I joined Broughton in 2017 and since then have held a number of roles within the club—while also continuing to play. I’ve seen Broughton grow through some challenging periods, including how we managed the impact of COVID with professionalism and resilience. To then bounce back and see both teams win their leagues in our Centenary season was incredible. It’s been quite a journey.”
Reflecting on the club’s landmark 100th year and the transition from outgoing President Kevin McArthur, Park is eager to focus on deepening Broughton’s ties to the local community.
“For me, one of the key priorities as President is looking at how we can further build the club’s presence within the community. What more can we do for the community? What stronger partnerships can we forge? This is about long-term sustainability—reaching more people, growing our membership, and making a real impact.”
A former talented short-distance runner in her youth, Park understands that sustained success—on and off the field—is a marathon rather than a sprint.
“It’s also about continuing to unite our Men’s and Women’s teams under one strong club ethos—ensuring everyone feels like a vital part of the bigger picture. Everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of Broughton.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Park knows expectations will be high with both squads aiming to defend their titles.
“Winning back-to-back titles would be an amazing achievement, but we’re also targeting improvements in both cup competitions which hopefully would see us reach Murrayfield and play in the Silver Saturday finals day.”
Having already made 84 appearances for the Women’s XV, Park also becomes only the third female President in Broughton’s history—following in the footsteps of Rebecca Glendinning and Steph Fleming.
“Rebecca and Steph have been such inspirational figures, both on and off the field. They gave so much to the club, and it’s a real honour to follow them. To have had Steph, then Kev, and now myself—it’s great to see that alternating representation. It’s refreshing and shows how inclusive our club culture really is.”
With energy, vision, and a deep connection to the club, President Lauren Park steps into her new role ready to lead Broughton into its second century—with pride, purpose, and passion.
