Bruton hot on their heels

Sunday was a beautiful day for a game of hockey..............well for spectators, maybe a little too warm for players but we won't complain. Bruton U10's had their first tournament of the 2015/2016 season and it was a cracker, they were on fire.
After a heart pounding warm up Bruton were ready to play, their first match against Cheddar Valley. The game was pretty even with most of the play in midfield and a few breaks from either side but were warned off by the defence. Result: 0-0 a good result to start.
After a change in Keepers, this freed up an extra player which would only benefit Bruton on such a hot day. Raring to go Bruton stepped out on to the pitch to play Taunton Civil Service. There were some fantastic runs from our backs which created opportunities for Bruton to overload the opponents 'D'. TCS had a couple of attempts on goal (one nail biting) but with great goal keeping skills Jazmine Reynolds seemed to take it in her stride. Once cleared by the keeper the defence were in position to clear the ball out and start attacking from the off. Superb goals from Hayden Bown (2) both within the penalty spot region, Will Hawkins (1) battled it out to score against the keeper. Result 3-0 Win
Feeling on a high Bruton's team were looking confident, they had every right to be, their next match against Shepton Mallet. Bruton dominated the play from the start, Shepton had a couple of breaks but Bruton stood firm and counter- attacked. With great skill and trust saw passes down the left and passes round the back to defence to create space and move the opponents, a self pass from Jack Miller unopposed drove the ball straight in to the 'D' which resulted in Bruton scoring. Bruton moved the ball well between them with great support and communication from the Keeper to the front players. Goals from Poppy Miller (1), Jack Miller (1) and ?????(1). Result 3-0 Win
Probably our toughest game against Taunton Vale, Bruton played as they always did, using their new and improved skills and forward thinking, determination and pride. Although, it was hard work for both teams Bruton had chances on goal that were just wide of the post. Once again the teams were even it was only in the last 2 minutes Bruton defence were under attack in the middle of the 'D' with the ball being hit backwards and forwards (tennishockey) it was going to go one way or another. Unluckily the ball got through and TV scored. Result; 1-0 defeat
An awesome day had by all, leaving proud and heads held high, Well Done everyone!
P.s please let me know who scored the other goal against Shepton.
