Devon Junior Cup (First Round)

Devon 2 Buckfastleigh Ramblers faced Devon 1's OPMs on their own turf for the first round of Devon Junior Cup prepared and full of confidence.
First half seemed evenly matched OPM first to score with two penalties, then on 30 minutes prop Luke Collings scored the first try of the match Harry Laity converted. OPM getting another penalty over just before the break to take it to 9 - 7.
Second half was a display of discipline and superb rugby from Ramblers. The pack having the game of their lives. Captain for the day Lewis Cook put down for the forwards after a powerful maul to the line. Three minutes later Laity increased the lead with a penalty.
The set pieces, scrums and line outs again set the platform for some exciting rugby from Ramblers, giving the many supporters that had travelled down much to cheer on.
OPMs were rattled but got another penalty over and an unconverted try, but the powerhouse that is number 8 Matt Wrayford prove to be too much for the home side and delivered a brace of tries, both converted by Laity. Final score 17 - 29
Ramblers took six scrums against the feed which was a fantastic effort. Man Of The Match went to the front row players, Luke Collings, Luka Scibilia, George Lowrey & Chris Tester. Runner up to the rest of the team.
Ramblers will face Tamar Saracens in the next round of Devon Junior Cup.
