This was the third away match for Ramblers in the Devon Junior Cup. A tough draw for Ramblers had seen two losses against Exeter Saracens and Newcross, and today a somewhat depleted team faced Devon 1 Wessex.
Within the first two minutes Wessex scored an unconverted try. Ramblers struggled to keep possession and Wessex made the most of it with another two converted tries.
Just before half time Ramblers found their stride and second row Breckon Trigger made a good run for the line scoring his first try for the club, Harry Laity converted. Quickly followed by a Laity penalty kick left the half time score at 19 - 10.
Wessex started strong again in the second half with a further two tries, before the Ramblers pack showed what they are always capable of, working together to get Ryan Wolke over the line at 58 minutes, Laity converted. Wessex though ran away with the win with a further two converted tries.
The highlight of the game though, was when due to limited players on the bench, coach Tony Wolke put on his boots in the second half. A proud father sharing the pitch for the first time with both sons, Ryan, and newly signed Stefan.
Man of the match went to Rob Davis, runner up Stefan Wolke.
