Finally, we are getting to the point where we can return to Rugby, get our players back on the pitch and meet with old friends in the bar.
There is still some distance to go, and we want to make sure we do this in a controlled and sensible way, the last thing we need is to go too fast too soon and either put people off or worse get pushed back to stage one again.
The RFU has published a roadmap for the return to Rugby that you may have seen, but if not can be found here:
From a Buckingham Rugby Club perspective, we have the framework for restarting, but we are still in the process of working out the finer details.
Key dates for Rugby return are:
Minis and Juniors will restart on Sunday, April 11th
The Senior Men’s teams will restart on Thursday, April 8th
Senior Ladies will restart on Wednesday, April 14th
Touch Rugby will restart Thursday, April 8th
Individual plans and guidelines will be communicated to the various groups separately as the RFU have introduced some restrictions and changes for age groups.
From the social perspective the key dates are:
Outside Bar service is permissible from April 12th
Inside bar service permissible from May 17th.
We are looking at how we can keep things moving over the summer months, including events and touch rugby continuing, for example, we are actively investigating running the “Beer and Music festival” if we can find a suitable date.
The final item is the health of the club, and here the thanks go to all of you for your continued support. As a management team at the club, we have worked to minimise our outgoings and take advantage of any support options to which we are entitled, but without your continued support, we would not be in the position we are in. The club finances are secure, the clubhouse and grounds are in excellent condition and we are raring to go. Thank you all for your support throughout this most challenging of years, the news is positive, we have good plans in place, and can’t wait to welcome you back to the club as soon as we can.
