Steve Burrows writes:

Congratulations to the U9s who won the Alliance Cup at the Festival at Olney on 7 March.

There were 64 teams in four age groups (U 7’s, U8’s, U9’s & U10’s) in the festival. To win against so many other teams is a very big compliment to the boys.

Steve Burrows was told by the judges that there were many reasons for this victory but the top three were:

1 = The way the Team / Squad played rugby when they were in both the lead and behind in all the games that they played in.

2 = The way that the Team / Squad handled the mental side of the game, both in the lead and when behind in all the games that they played in.

3 = The sportsmanship the Team / Squad showed in all the games that they played.

This cut is very important as it was voted and given to us by the Rugby Alliance and they know about good rugby and this shows that the team is moving in the right direction in all aspects of how rugby should be played.

How down to the games?

We only lost one game (The first) on the day but this was enough to stop us getting to the semi-finals. The other games we played we achieved very high scores and won in some style in all of them. Also remember the game we lost was only by 1 point and the team that beat the Buckingham Bullets were the eventual beaten finalists.

We played some very good rugby and the team spirit was very good. I think the boys can be very proud of themselves.

Many thanks to all the parants for coming along and supporting the boys.

I think this look good for the rest of the festival season.
