Buckingham swans won their first home game of the season to make it 2 from 2 in the league

Swans report

Swans have had a bright start to the league season with 2 wins from 2 in September. The first game of the campaign took them away to Wymondham Wasps on the 9th September. This is the Swans furthest away trip and a tough game to start with, it was a very physically encounter and whilst Swans had a lot of the ball they initially struggled to make a break through going in at half time with the scores level. In the second half Swans looked more comfortable, they took control of the game and their superior fitness from a hard pre-season showed through. The game finishing in a convincing 34-17 win. Six trys in total scored by Sophie Ryder, Josie Murray(2), Chloe Alcorn(2) and Kelly Gell, with 2 conversions from the boot of Katie Clark. Forward of the match went to Sophie Ryder and Back of the match went to Josie Murray.
The second game of the season saw Swans take on West Bridgeford at home who came down from the league above last season. Swans made a bright start and got an early try, however they then found themselves defending for the next 30 minutes of the game, the defense was solid and West Bridgeford struggled to move forward, however a number of offside decisions against the Swans and a couple of mistakes finally saw West Bridgeford capitalize with a try. Again Swans were level at half time. In the second half, after a stern word from the coaches Swans focused on retaining the ball, they dominated the second half attacking far more and converting that attack into 3 tries. A late consolation try was scored by West Bridgeford in the play giving the Swans a 22-10 home win. Throughout the game swans dominated in the forwards, winning scrums and lineouts against the head and in attack the backs looked dangerous using lots of different options. The try scorers were Josie Murray (2), Aisha Thornton and Katie Clark, with 1 conversion from Katie Clark. Forward of the match went to Nicola Lepper and Back of the match to Katie Clark.
Swans next league game is this Sunday (7th October) away at local rivals Bletchley, kick off is at Bletchley Rugby Club (MK2 2HX) at 2pm, please come along and support!
