Buckingham split into two teams to take on the welcome visitors from Gosford and from Bletchley who both brought a side each.
The Polars took on Gosford in their first game and quickly showed their strength with a stollen ball by Charlie F. and good passing through the backs to see Willoughby go over for the first score. From the restart a strong run from Kyle took the ball back into the Gosford half where again good passing through the backs saw Alex go over for a Buckingham second. A third quickly followed by William W who showed a nice dummy to drive in from 5 metres out and a fourth soon followed following good direct running from Luke, quickly rucked ball and a pass out to Isaac to score. 4-0 at half time.
The second half saw further relentless pressure from the Polars, leading to 3 quick tries from Kyle all coming from forward dominance and strong straight running from the backs which was key on the narrow pitch. With the score 7-0 the boys weren't quite finished with Kyle once again going over for his 5th and Buckingham's 8th. Final score 8-0 to Buckingham.
The Gizzlies met Bletchley first in a very competitive game. Buckingham however soon got on top leading to two well taken scores by Tom P to make the half time score 2-0 Buckingham. The restart saw Jack take the kickoff and charge into the Bletchley half to put immediate pressure back on the opposition, leading to a strong run by George K to go. Over and make it 3-0 Buckingham. Following the restart Bletchley were then able to create pressure on Buckingham leading to score by their forwards to make it 3-1. However a second strong run by George set up Max for a 4th try to Buckingham which was followed by a 5th scored by Tom O, and an opening game victory 5-1.
The teams then swapped over with continued success. The Polars beating Bletchley with a very good around performance by 9-0 with tries from Alex P (2), Mathias (2) Isaac (3), Kyle and Willoughby. The Grizzlies also completed a victory over
Gosford 3-0 with tries by Jack, George and Tom P.
Four games played by Buckingham 25 tries scored and only 1 conceded!
The Buckingham teams then took on each other in the final game with the Polars securing the only try of a hard fought game following break from scrum half by Charlie D.
All in all a good morning's workout, thanks to Kempy for securing the additional opposition in Gosford, which allowed good game time for the boys.
