Buckingham vs Milton Keynes

On the first cold morning of the season (as judged by Nick wearing trousers!) 30+ Buckingham boys took on the one squad from MK.

Polars up first with good forward scrapping sees William going over, but with confusion on the position of the try line no try was called (TMO (me and few other impartial dads) later confirmed a try had been scored).

A dominant Buckingham scrum was a feature of the day, with ball secured against the head for Isaac F to put Isaac MB in to open the scoring.

Buckingham line-out also proved strong with a take from Tom P securing ball which went through the backs for a strong run from Isaac MB to run 3/4 of the pitch to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Great tackling from the kick off by Tom P and Kyle kept the pressure on Milton Keynes. The pressure finally telling with Willoughby going over with a trade mark score in the corner to make it 3-0.

A well contested game ends 3-0 to Buckingham. But better discipline needed Buckingham to stop silly penalties!

Grizzlies were up next.

Immediate pressure from Buckingham leads to MK conceding a penalty which was driven by Jack laying the ball back for Rory to dive over to make it 1-0.

Following the restart a quick line-out take from Jack offloading to Alex P who goes over to make it 2-0.

George then went close, held up on the line. From resulting scrum Buckingham continue the pressure but concede a penalty to see MK clear their lines.

Halftime 2-0

It was a scrappy start to the second half with MK pressurising at the rucks restricting Buckingham ball. The game continued to be a tight game with passes not sticking and the ever frequent hand-off penalty resulting in giving ball away. Final score 2-0

MK to their credit agree a further game, first half against the Polars.

The boys again started well, camped on the MK line and then passing out to Kyle who opens the scoring

Not to be out done MK come back quickly to make 1-1. Polars put the pressure back on with William driving forward setting the ball up for Kyle to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Second half sees the Grizzlies take over with the game continuing to be tight with the Grizzlies dominating the territory with the boys going close on a couple of occasions before a 'swallow dive' from Jack to make score 3-1

With the intensity increasing the game finished 3-1.

Full credit to MK who battled and tackled hard all morning and to our own James for 3 games refereeing.
