A good turnout of about 25 boys took on a well drilled Leighton Buzzard team on
a very windy morning. Warm up done, parents and coaches in position on the
blustery side lines, time for kick off.
The boys hit their stride right from the kick off with Kyle putting in Isaac F to open the scoring. Buckingham kept
up the pressure securing all the ball and the territory which was rewarded with
a well timed offload from Kyle to Joe to make it 2-0. Willoughby soon got into
the action with a trademark rampage down the right wing and through half of the
LB defence for 3-0. Having set up two tries Kyle took one over the line to make
With continued dominance and good driving play through the forwards
William W went close before setting the ball back for Willoughby to make it 5-0
The second half saw an almost full switch of Buckingham players
which disrupted the momentum that had been created in the first half, with LB
creating early pressure building on a few mistakes from Buckingham and scoring
to make it 5-1. As is often the case conceding a try sparked the boys into
action with George soon replying to make it 6-1 and then offloading to Harrison
to make the final score 7-1 Buckingham.
A 10 minute break before a second game kicked off with LB defending their line well until Joe burst through the
line to open the scoring 1-0. Buckingham continued to dominate but were unable to score any further tries. Halftime 1-0 to Buckingham.
The restart was taken by Kyle who fed Willoughby to score straight from the KO for 2-0. With the
boys again dominating the forward exchanges good counter rucking from Toby freed
the ball up for Tom P to dive over for 3-0. A fourth and final try followed
William caught the ball from the restart, passed on to Kyle who passed on to
Willoughby to secure a 4-0 victory to Buckingham.
A good mornings run out scoring 11 tries in difficult conditions, conceding just one.
