Buckingham United's Sunday teams came head to head on Sunday with the United Cup up for grabs.

Patch Hooper struck a scissor kick first time from the edge of the box to find the top corner with what was easily the goal of the game

Buckingham United A retained the United 'Interclub' Cup on Sunday with a narrow victory over the B team.

The B team dominated early proceedings. The running power and trickery of Matt Carr and Oli Watts was testing the A team defence, although neither managed to forge a clear cut chance to give the B team the lead.

As the half went on, the A team midfield trio of Patch Hooper. Julian Hawes and Ant Fruncillo began taking control of proceedings and bringing players into the game.

The trio combined to feed Micheal Reed into the right channel, the young winger beat his man to find a central position and nonchalantly lobbed the oncoming goalkeeper to give the A team the lead.

The A team midfield really began working the ball around with purpose shortly after and following a slick passing move, Max Hallam tapped into into an empty net two give the A team a second.

Hallam almost grabbed a second minutes later when he thudded a header against the crossbar from 10 yards. Patch Hooper eventually did add a third for the A team following a clearance from a corner. The midfielder struck a scissor kick first time from the edge of the box to find the top corner with what was easily the goal of the game.

An incredible 30 minutes for Buckingham United A meant that they went into the break 3 - 0 up.

A number of changes were made at half time which allowed many players from both teams to get some vital minutes before the season starts on 3rd September, and the B team began to take hold of the game.

Olly Watts forced a fine diving save from the A team keeper before Matt Carr fired narrowly over from a set piece. It certainly wasn't the B teams day in front of goal, and on another day they would likely have drawn level with the amount of possession but the A team defence was resolute throughout the game.

Jacob Field did pull a goal back following a sustained period of pressure from Buckingham United B, but it was too late to make a difference to the game and the A team held on for victory.

A tight and competitive game with plenty of minutes for all players involved.

Final Score: Buckingham United A 3 - 1 Buckingham United B
