Harry just falls short of the magical 3 figures

Harry Brook just missed out on a century, but the Young Lions continued to dominate on the second day of their three-day fixture against a UAE XI at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Brook added 12 to his overnight 86 before falling just short of three figures, but the tourists moved on to 310 for five declared for a first innings lead of 226.

Somerset’s Tom Banton and Surrey’s Ollie Pope, who are sharing the wicketkeeping duties in the match, underlined their batting ability with an unbroken partnership of 80, Banton ending unbeaten on 44, and Pope on 37.

The Young Lions then reduced the UAE to 180 for seven in their second innings.

Nottinghamshire fast bowler Jack Blatherwick added two more wickets to the three he took in the first innings and there were two each for captain Max Holden and Surrey allrounder Euan Woods, both bowling off-spin.
