Well what can i say. We were superb. The heat was intense yet we coped with it well and used our subs wisely. We all turned up with no real expectations with it being our first ever full match. I thought the team worked well together and there was moments of pure class with players working well with each other and i could see they are really beginning to gel together. West Drayton i remember from last year, while i was an assistant coach with the whites, are a well organised team with a couple of stand out players and i used this knowledge to my advantage, putting our stronger players marking them. We went ahead with a screamer of a goal from Cody from just inside the box. We then went 2-0 up with a slightly fortunate mistake from the home team goalie from Captain Jacks long throw bouncing straight off the keeper and in. West Drayton got back in the game just before half time with a scortcher of a finish which Mr Campbell in our goal helpless. The second half started with both teams trying to break through but it was a scrappy goal that drew west drayton level with our defence unable to clear and leaving an open goal for west drayton to finish. But along came our super sub Arron in the last minute, who managed to squeeze himself some space and shot across the goal giving the home keeper no chance and winning the game. William was Man of the match after a very good display in defence. To say i am proud would be an understatement but lets just say i have a sore throat now and my heart beat has now slowed down. A BIG thank you to our teams parents who made the trip and kept the boys going in the extreme hot conditions! I am looking forward to next week now!
