Ramblers made the long journey on Tuesday night to Harlow to play Enfield 1893 at Harlow Town's pitch. This time the Ramblers had a full bench and were able to pick a reasonably strong side but still we have 4 players side lined with injury.
The first half hour of the match was extremely tight with very few chances being created at either end, but that changed in the 31st minute when our attack broke down deep in their half and the ball was quickly moved forward to their left winger who with some deft control on the run cut inside our penalty box and buried his shot in the bottom corner.
Enfield had two further long range shots in the half that were well saved by Reece Hawkins before the half time whistle. HT 1-0.
The second half continued very much in the manner of the first half with our effort and endeavor nullifying Enfield's attacking threats, after 60 minutes we had to make 2 substitutions due to injuries to Andy Mowforth and Luke Moloney which greatly reduced our options to change the game.
Enfield's second goal came midway through the half from a corner to the far post which was headed back across goal and struck their centre half before rolling over the line. Their third goal arrived some 8 minutes later from a slick move. At this point our heads dropped and the last 15 minutes of the match was one-way traffic towards our goal and we were lucky not to concede at least 3 further goals.
Our injury list worsened when Charlee Hughes limped off with 6 minutes to go and add further worries for the upcoming match on Saturday.
